Freightliner Truck Owners Can Rest Idle-Free Thanks to NITE Technology as Factory-Installed Option
OEM Agreement Adds NITE No-Idle Climate-Control System to Option List for Century, Columbia and Coronado Trucks
Bergstrom and Freightliner Trucks, the largest heavy-duty truck maker in North America, announced on March 23 the availability of the NITE system on new orders for Century, Columbia and Coronado trucks. The companies made the announcement at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. Visitors to the Mid-America Trucking Show were able to see a Freightliner Century Class truck featuring the NITE system.
Offering the NITE system in partnership with Freightliner Trucks will significantly expand fuel savings industry-wide, according to Terry Zeigler, Bergstrom's vice president and general manager for Electrified Products.
"The NITE system is designed for owner-operators and fleets that require a reliable alternative to truck idling without sacrificing driver comfort," Zeigler said. "The majority of customers, end-users, owner-operators and fleet managers we've interviewed say they want a lightweight, compact, efficient and cost-effective system that doesn't involve adding another engine to their trucks. And they want it as part of a standard option list."
The climate-control package can be configured to meet the operational requirements of individual trucks. The NITE system is available with a choice of an air conditioner only or a combination air conditioner and heater. The enhanced power source is ideal for extreme climate conditions or extended application needs.
"Since we first introduced the NITE system to the market, we've received many comments from owner-operators and fleet managers who were interested in seeing the system as a factory option," Zeigler pointed out. "We're pleased to announce that the NITE system is offered on new Freightliner trucks. It's really the result of ongoing feedback from the industry."
